Terms of service and purchase terms
These terms govern paid plans, prepaid credits and the use of Scholar XI output. Last updated 4 September 2026.
1. Plans and billing
Paid plans are sold per person, billed monthly or yearly in advance. The yearly price covers eleven months, so one month is free. Charges are taken automatically at the start of each billing period for the number of people on the plan at that moment. Applicable tax is added at checkout.
2. Upgrades and downgrades
You can upgrade a plan or add people at any time; the change applies immediately and the payment provider bills the difference for the remainder of the current period. A downgrade or seat reduction takes effect at the start of the next billing period. We do not issue money back for the unused part of a period after a downgrade.
3. Cancellation
You can cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future charges only: your plan, seats and plan allowance remain fully available until the end of the period you have already paid for, after which the organization returns to the Free plan. We do not pro-rate or repay the remainder of a cancelled period.
4. Refunds
All payments are final once taken and are non-refundable, including prepaid credit top-ups. The single exception: if you request a refund on the same calendar day as the charge and the purchase has not been used at all — no XI runs, no credit consumption, no paid-plan work executed — we will refund it in full. Once any usage has been recorded against the purchase, that exception no longer applies.
5. Credits
XI Credits are a prepaid usage unit, not money and not a stored-value instrument. Plan credits are granted for each billing period and expire at the end of that period. Purchased credits do not expire while the account is active. Credits cannot be exchanged, transferred between organizations or converted back into currency.
6. AI output — accuracy and reliance
Scholar XI is an AI system. Like every AI system, it can be wrong: it can misread a source, produce a plausible statement that is inaccurate, miss context, or complete a task in a way you did not intend. Output may be incomplete, out of date or unsuitable for your specific situation.
You are responsible for reviewing XI output before relying on it, and for verifying anything consequential. Scholar XI output is not legal, financial, medical, tax, safety or other professional advice, and must not be used as a substitute for a qualified professional. Where XI acts on connected systems, approval gates exist so that you remain the decision-maker for actions that matter.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scholar XI is not liable for any loss, damage, cost or claim arising from errors, omissions or inaccuracies in AI output, from actions taken in reliance on that output, or from your use of the service. This includes indirect, incidental, special, consequential and punitive damages, and any loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid to Scholar XI for the service in the three months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim. The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
8. Acceptable use and suspension
You must not use Scholar XI to break the law, infringe someone else’s rights, attack or probe systems you do not own, or generate content that impersonates a real person without their permission. We may suspend an account that puts the platform, other customers or third parties at risk.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes to pricing or purchase terms apply from your next billing period, and we will tell the organization owner before they take effect.
